Hot Stone Massage is a basic body massage enhanced by the use of hot lava stones applied to the body by the practitioner. They can be placed on the body at various trigger points or they can be held in the practitioner's hands and glided over the muscle area using heat and friction to help relax the muscles and ease in release of tension.
Aromatherapy combines the soothing, healing touch of massage with the therapeutic properties of Essential Oils. Aromatherapy is a holistic treatment which can have a profound effect on the mind, body and emotions. Many of the oils used in Aromatherapy have a long history of therapeutic use.
Prenatal massage shares many of the goals of regular massage to relax tense muscles, ease sore spots, improve circulation and mobility, and just make you feel good. But it's also tailored specifically to the needs of pregnant women and their changing bodies.
Geriatric massage is a form of massage designed to meet the specific
needs of the elderly population. It helps improve blood circulation,
relieve pain, and increase range of motion. Active or passive movement
of the joints may also be part of geriatric massage.
Elderly people often suffer from a variety of such age related diseases
as Parkinson's disease, arthritis, diabetes, or heart disease. As a result,
they have poor blood circulation and limited physical activity. Many of
them are also anxious, depressed, and lonely. Geriatric massage can help
them maintain and improve their overall health, as well as regain certain
physical functions that have been reduced or lost due to aging. In addition,
it can relieve anxiety and depression and provide comfort to touch-deprived
elderly patients.
Ear candling is used primarily for cleaning the ears and promoting a
healthy atmosphere in the ears, sinus cavity, and throat.
Also the process can help regulate pressure, assist in postnasal
drip, sinusitis, migraines, and some forms of hearing loss.
When the Europeans first came to North America they found that the
North American Indians had many different ways of healing,
one of those ways was ear candling. It is said that some tribes such
as the Hopi Indians were very advanced in healing and were
the first to used ear candling.
Ear candles are long, hollow tubes of pure, unbleached cotton muslin,
coated with beeswax. The process is simple and relaxing. The person
receiving the treatment lies on their side in a comfortable position.
The small end of the candle is inserted into the ear while the
large end of the candle is lit. A feeling of warmth will be felt
inside the ear and the crackling sound of the candle will be heard
while it burns. Ear candles work by injecting smoke into the ear
canal. The smoke spirals downward through the hollow candle,
loosening impacted wax, and helping evaporate moisture. The warmth of
the smoke, and the relaxing sounds serve to aid the body in the
natural processes related to the ear.
"Medical Massage Therapy Is A Scientifically Based Manual
Therapy System That Finds And Treats The Cause Of Your Pain!"
Massage therapy isn't just for relaxation anymore. Did you
know massage is a proven, safe and effective way to reduce pain,
rehabilitate injuries, improve athletic performance, and alleviate the
effects of chronic stress?
According to the American Medical Massage Association (AMMA), medical
massage is:
"A system of manually applied techniques designed to reduce pain,
establish normal tissue tension, create a positive tissue environment
and to normalize the movement of the musculoskeletal system. Medical
massage is a scientifically based method of manual therapy that seeks
a clear understanding of the scientific principles of physiology that
affect connective and soft tissue healing and treatment."
At Angel Dolfyn Connection we specialize in applying these
manual therapy techniques under the prescription and supervision from
either a medical doctor, osteopathic doctor, physical therapist
and/or a chiropractic doctor.
Medical Massage Therapists have been trained to adhere to the following clinical criteria:
Some medical insurance companies cover massage therapy services. Also, worker's compensation and personal injury protection through home owners or auto insurance company allow payments for massage therapy. Please contact us to verify coverage for massage therapy from your insurance company.
A typical medical massage session should last a minimum of 45 minutes and no longer than 90 minutes.

A typical, initial treatment plan will last 12 sessions whereby the patient will be asked to return to the prescribing primary care physician for a re-evaluation. A written progress report will be delivered to the prescribing physician with a recommendation for further medical massage treatment if necessary.
Over the years there has been a large amount of scientific research supporting the beneficial physiological effects of massage therapy. They include but are not limited to;

Energy Healing includes any and all bodywork modalities that allow the
flow of the Universal Life force to manifest through a person's body
for the purpose of healing. The practitioner allow themselves to be a
channel of this energy. It is not the practitioner who performs the
healing, but the Universal Life force flowing through them.
This Universal Life Force Energy flows through all living organisms
and links us all together and unites us into a Oneness. In the
human body, this Life Energy flows freely into, through and out of the
body, when it is in a state of health and wholeness.
Reiki philosophy states that everything is composed and surrounded by
energy -- our bodies, the earth, animals, and the atmosphere. Reiki
(Rei means "spirit" or "soul", Ki means "energy") is a system by which
we can use this energy for healing. The goal of Reiki is to place in
balance the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual energies within
an individual, and to bring the Trinity of being (mind, body, & spirit)
into balance through unconditional love.
The function of the Reiki Practitioner is to allow
themselves to be a channel for the creative force to flow through
them, and by so doing increase the energy flow to the physical body
so the cells can reestablish balance and well-being.
We offer our clients a wide range of services when it
comes to Reiki. We always incorporate Reiki energy into our massage
session. We can also devote an entire session strictly to "energy"
work.
Therapeutic Touch is a derivative of "laying on of hands" healing
to direct human energies to help or heal someone who is ill. The
energy imbalances of the patient are identified and the practitioner
attempts to get the energy into balance again. The underlying premise
of Therapeutic Touch is that healing is promoted when the energy (vital
life force) enveloping the body is in balance with an equilibrium
between inward and outward energy flow. Illness is an imbalance in this
energy field or disruption in the energy flow.
It is this flow of Energy that nourishes all the organs and
systems in the body. This flow of Energy creates an energy field around
the body that can be objectively perceived and measured.
